Our Time encourages your toddler to uncover an engaging musical world while building confidence, self-control, and communication skills. Singing, vocal play, rhyming, and object and instrument exploration foster language skills, while creative movement to various musical "moods" develops a sense of balance, timing, and spatial awareness. As well, listening and turn-taking encourage those blossoming social skills.
Kindermusik Our Time is for toddlers from 1-1/2 to 3-1/2 years of age. It incorporates the most current research on early childhood development and provides a joyful and affirming environment for learning and connecting with your toddler as well as connecting with other toddlers and parents.
Age Range: 1-1/2 to 3-1/2 years of age
Class Structure: 15 classes in a semester (12 weeks at the Center)
Class Length: 50 minute class each week
Class Size: Class with up to 10 toddlers and one parent.
What You and Your Child Will Experience In Class:
Instrument exploration and ensemble skill development Age-appropriate play with child-safe instruments enhances a sense of rhythm and steady beat, develop an awareness of the distinguishing qualities of sound, and encourage spontaneity and creativity, as well as discover their potential for beat, rhythm, melody, and ensemble playing.
Vocal play Through vocal play, toddlers learn to form vowels and consonants, say words and phrases, and imitate rhythm and vocal inflection. In Kindermusik Our Time, vocal play is presented within the context of songs, chants, and activities done in class.
Story time and early literacy Listening to stories enhances language and speech development and fosters awareness of sounds, teaches use of language, and sends the message that words and symbols have meaning. The same experiences that help toddlers learn to read a book also help them learn to read music.
Movement Activities There are age-appropriate opportunities for movement such as synchronized movement, group dances and circle games, as well as expressive movement.
Together Time Kindermusik offers you a place to create special memories with your child, gain new insights into her development, and nurture her natural love of music.
